Ferries face cancellation due to bad weather 3/2/13
Western Isles ferries face cancellations and delays due to an approaching storm.
High winds blowing over 40mph on Sunday resulted in the MV Clansman being unable
to make her voyage to Castlebay and Lochboisdale. It means Monday’s the inward bound
leg of the timetable is also cancelled.
The Finlaggan sailing from Lochmaddy was also put off today and North Uist traffic
diverted via Sornoway. The MV Hebrides was held back by over two hours as a result.
She departed Stornoway at 4.45pm and is due to return around 11pm.
All island ferries services for the mainland are liable to be disrupted on Monday.
The MV Finlaggan’s captain will make a decision at 6am on Monday over sailing out
of Tarbert at 6am. Her Lochmaddy timetable also risks possible cancellation at short
notice.
The Stornoway freight vessel will not sail tonight while passenger sailings between
Stornoway and Ullapool are liable to disruption.
