Macneil criticises petrol prices 23/8/11
MP Angus Brendan MacNeil has attacked the dithering of the UK Government over high fuel prices.
He said: “After hearing reports from my constituents in Lochboisdale of petrol prices reaching £1.61 per litre for diesel, I have to challenge the UK Government on this issue.
“The UK Government’s one size fits all policy has, once again, failed us horribly.
“While we hear reports of falling wholesale petrol prices around the UK, our petrol prices continue to rise to extreme levels.
“We need immediate action now. Not dithering from the UK Government.
“We need a rural fuel derogator that works best for the islands and not for the UK Government.
“We need control of our own taxation to ensure that our economy works to its greatest potential.
