
Blockbuster Brave nominated for Bafta award 10/1/13
The Disney-Pixar movie Brave has been nominated for a Bafta Film Award.
Ancient monoliths based on the Callanish Standing Stones on Lewis are featured in
the animated movie which is set in the Scottish Highlands.
A Gaelic song - Tha mo ghaol air àird a' chuain - My love is on the high seas - by
Uist folk singer Julie Fowlis is used to promote the film. She also sings on the
motion soundtrack.
The film’s directors visited the Hebrides and the Highlands for inspiration for the
blockbuster.
The shortlist was announced in London on Wednesday. Brave is up against Frankenweenie
and Paranorman in the best animation category. The awards ceremony is next month
in London.
The awards ceremony iwill be held at the Royal Opera House in London next month.
