Lewis footballer, Matthew Wright, took to the field yesterday to play against Glasgow Rangers .

The 18-year-old from Point turned out for Ross County in his Scottish Premiership debut.

The striker has scored 30 goals for his club over his two year training placement.

Three weeks ago, Matthew Wright and another Lewis teammate, Adam Mackinnon, came off the bench to make their senior debuts against Stirling Albion, at Dingwall, a game County won 3-0.

Mackinnon, 17, from Tong, Lewis, is currently on loan to Brora Rangers.

Also at Brora is another Lewis lad, Martin Maclean, who marvelled fans with a solid performance on Saturday, finishing off with a grand finale by scoring the team’s fifth goal against Wick Academy, cementing his team’s position at the top of the Highland League.
