Western Isles endurance athlete, Christina Mackenzie, has set off on her bid to complete is the fastest journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats by bike for a female.
She hopes to finish the 839 mile distance under the current record of 52 hours, 45 minutes and 11 seconds set by Lynne Biddulph in 2002.
Christina pedalled off from Land’s End at 8am this morning after unfavourable winds delayed the start since Thursday.
She is the current holder of the British women’s VTTA 24hr Time Trial record and has a proven and impressive track record in extreme endurance events.
