A South Uist woman is due to stand trial after being charged with assaulting a police officer.

The 59-year-old is also accused of threatening and abusive behaviour.

She denied both charges during a brief hearing at Inverness Sheriff Court today.

The woman appeared from custody via video link from Benbecula Police Station

Sheriff Margaret Neilson granted bail.  

The case will call at Lochmaddy Sheriff Court at a later date.
