Adverse weather affecting ferry travel continues in the Western Isles with strong winds - up to severe gale force at times - forecast for all parts of the Minch  and Little Minch.

Friday morning’s forecast is worse as further low pressure systems track across the Atlantic.

In addition a spell of wild weather is expected over Sunday and Monday

CalMac sailing schedules and potential disruption impacts will be reviewed when updated weather forecasts are available.

Cancellations announced for today (Thursday) on Western Isles ferry routes includes the Sound of Harris service. An update will be provided later regarding potential sailings on Friday.

The Castlebay and Lochboisdale combined timetable is off due to high waves and force nine conditions.

Early sailings on the Eriskay link are cancelled and the late morning crossings are under review.

MV Loch Seaforth’s sailings, including freight runs, are liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice. Her Friday timetable is also on yellow alert.

Due to MV Hebrides berthing overnight in Uig due to weather disruption, the 7.30am sailing departing Lochmaddy is cancelled.  With a high risk of cancellation for Friday morning’s sailings coupled with cancellations on the Sound of Harris, the vessel has drawn up an amended timetable to get disrupted passengers and traffic to their destinations before the weather stops sailings

The Hebrides plans to load with mainland traffic from Skye and head off to Lochmaddy and Tarbert. Then its onward to Uig in the afternoon to load for both island ports again, weather permitting.
