VISIT OUTER HEBRIDES: Visitor Information Officers (x2 Seasonal)

Visit Outer Hebrides (Outer Hebrides Tourism) are looking to welcome to the team friendly, capable, individuals to fill the seasonal role of Visitor Information Officers at the new Stornoway Visitor Information hub. The successful candidates must be knowledgeable and passionate about the Outer Hebrides with strong communication skills to provide advice to visitors that connects them with local businesses, experiences and activities.
The Visitor hub will operate Monday–Saturday from 9am–5pm with flexibility required around busy periods.
There are a total of 48 hrs per week (@£12.60 per hr) available, to be agreed with the successful candidates depending on availability.

The role involves:
- Being the public face of Visit Outer Hebrides -
responding to visitor enquiries to inspire and inform them about places to go, things to do, where to eat and shop, as well as queries on travel, accommodation, local culture and other aspects of their trip. - Working with the VOH team and other local stakeholders to ensure information and service provided is as current and accurate as possible at all times.
- Working alongside Zone 1 colleagues to support the retail offer to visitors.
- Promoting responsible visitor behaviour, including our P.L.A.C.E campaign.
- Managing the Visitor Information hub area to ensure it is clean and presentable and
that all on-
site channels are kept stocked, operational and up- to- date (including print, digital and retail resources.
There are no minimum qualifications required as full training will be given, but applicants should have relevant previous experience working in a role requiring positive communication with the public and must have strong local knowledge of the islands.
Applicants should demonstrate they can work independently and, when required, under pressure, they should also be confident in the use of digital resources. Gaelic would be an advantage but is not essential.
