VISIT OUTER HEBRIDES: Visitor Information Officers (x2 Seasonal)

 

6 Month Fixed-Term (April – September 2025)

 

 

Visit Outer Hebrides (Outer Hebrides Tourism) are looking to welcome to the team friendly, capable, individuals to fill the seasonal role of Visitor Information Officers at the new Stornoway Visitor Information hub. The successful candidates must be knowledgeable and passionate about the Outer Hebrides with strong communication skills to provide advice to visitors that connects them with local businesses, experiences and activities.

The Visitor hub will operate Monday–Saturday from 9am–5pm with flexibility required around busy periods.

There are a total of 48 hrs per week (@£12.60 per hr) available, to be agreed with the successful candidates depending on availability.

Visit Outer Hebrides is the island’s Destination Management Organisation with over 500 business and community members who work across the visitor sector. We run the destination website www.visitouterhebrides.co.uk, promote the long-distance walking and cycling route The Hebridean Way and are involved in a range of marketing and development activities aimed at ensuring the tourism industry contributes positively to the local economy and community.

 

The role involves:

 

There are no minimum qualifications required as full training will be given, but applicants should have relevant previous experience working in a role requiring positive communication with the public and must have strong local knowledge of the islands.

Applicants should demonstrate they can work independently and, when required, under pressure, they should also be confident in the use of digital resources. Gaelic would be an advantage but is not essential.

The deadline for applications is Friday 21st March, 2025 with interviews scheduled to take place Wednesday 25 March (on-line interviews will be considered by request). The successful candidates must be available to start work no later than week beginning 28th April.
