South Uist ferry will divert to Ullapool for an overnight stay to undertake “essential maintenance.”

The Mallaig route is cancelled until Thursday as a result.

CalMac said MV Lord of the Isles’ fixed fire-fighting bottles require maintenance.

The work is being carried out at Ullapool due to restricted availability of berth at other mainland ports.

The vessel will carry traffic on her way from Lochboisdale to Ullapool today (Tuesday) and on the return leg on Wednesday afternoon.

All foot passengers are required to pre-book.

In addition, due to crews hours of rest, an amended timetable will operate on Thursday with a delayed 11.25am departure from Lochboisdale. Only one return service will operate.
