Two people have been charged in connection with a series of thefts on South Uist and Benbecula yesterday.

 

They are to be reported in connection with incidents at a shop in Daliburgh and at Benbecula Airport

 

The pair are also alleged to have been involved in the theft of a vehicle on South Uist.

 

A 49-year-old man and a woman, 56, are expected to appear at the next sitting of Lochmaddy Sheriff Court in September.

 

Inspector Jane Nicolson said: "I would like to pass on our thanks to members of the local community on South Uist who helped with our enquiries.

 

"We are committed to tackling acquisitive crime and urge anyone with concerns about suspicious activity to call us on 101 or 999 in an emergency."
