Fiona Langley, from Harris, took part in the Solo Traditional Singing Fluent Girls Competition (aged 13-15) and continued the winning streak for Sir E Scott School by winning the Traditional Silver Medal, Gold Badge and the Aggregate Prize - The Ann Kelly MacDonald Memorial Trophy for the competitor who gained the highest mark in both Solo Traditional Singing Fluent Competitions.


The Royal National Mòd showcases the best in Gaelic culture, music and language. It runs in Perth until Saturday 22nd October.


Harris continues winning streak at the Royal National Mòd

Two young singers from Harris continued a winning streak for their home island at the Mòd in Perth this afternoon.

Fiona Langley (above) won the Traditional Silver Medal for 13 - 15 years girls this afternoon.

The teenager - who is a pupil at Sir E Scott school - was also awarded a gold badge for coming first in the girls’ event.

In addition, she secured the Ann Kelly MacDonald Memorial Trophy for achieving the highest mark amongst male and female competitors in the section.

Alasdair Iain Mackay of Ardnamurchan won the boy’s silver medal.  

Participants competed for the prize in the historic surroundings of St Matthew’s Church overlooking the River Tay.

Fiona has also entered tonight’s junior silver pendant contest with singers facing stiff competition amongst the 14-strong line-up.
















Meanwhile, Ellie-Ceit Johnson of Sgoil Sir E Scott was presented with the Iain Morrison Memorial Trophy for wining the senior girls’ traditional contest.

An Comunn then awarded her the Charlie MacColl Memorial Trophy for the highest marks across the boys and girls competitions in the category
