Carnan Stores is now closed to the public until further notice.  Taking orders by phone, email and facebook for animal feed, coal and gas only. Payment by card or direct payment online (contact store for bank details). Charlie's Bistro in Benbecula is providing a ready meal takeaway service for the vulnerable, house bound and those in isolation, Delivery can be arranged in certain cases if feasible.  We are also hoping to provide fresh fish from the premises and planning for this is completed, more details to come.

Barra & Vatersay

Barratlantic is on reduced working hours 8.30-noon Mon to Fri. The fish-shop will take orders for frozen fish for delivery on Thursday and Saturday to help people self isolating (orders to be placed before 12pm). Orders for coal, fuel, etc can be placed in the mornings or by emailing christina@barratlantic.co.uk


Castlebay Post Office is open on new hours 9am - noon Monday to Friday. Only one customer in at a time.


Padula’s New opening hours 9 to 5pm Monday to Saturday. Closed for lunch 1pm - 2pm. Now shut on Sundays.



Organisations

Advocacy Western Isles – The office is closed to the public. Advocacy services will continue by telephone, skype and e-mail.

Citizen’s Advice offices are shut for walk-ins but islanders can get in touch by phone to their local office. Advice will be given through dedicated phone or skype appointments.

 

The Leanne Fund is operating by phone as the office is closed.  


All sport and leisure facilities, libraries and museums throughout the Western Isles are closed indefinitely. All after school lets are also cancelled until further notice.

Repairs - Emergency only repair service.  Additional measures will be in place to comply with distancing requirements and to minimise risk to you and to HHP operatives. Non-emergency works previously reported are postponed. Tenants will be contacted about this and HHP will carry out the work as soon as they can.


Support   HHP will seek to make contact with as many tenants as possible to check on their wellbeing and particularly those who they are aware are most vulnerable.  Please contact HHP if you need help and they will do all they can to assist.

People can also leave name and phone number for a call back. Pickups can be arranged Saturday between 10 and 3. Items will be shipped Tuesday and Fridays. Pickups will be contact free.


WJ Macdonald, butchers, Stornoway. Open Mon- Sat 7am - 5pm. Free delivery service in the town area. Currently, only allowing 4 people in the shop at the one time. Still accepting cash but card payment would be preferred. Customers may also place orders by telephone or online and then collect from shop.

Carloway Community Association is looking for volunteers to help with shopping, collecting prescriptions or maybe even adding items to your own home delivery for those that are not able to go out due to the current advice. For a prescription, phone the pharmacy on 810333 first, then  810906 to collect and deliver.

Western Isles businesses & community bodies providing services

All pubs, clubs and other drinking establishments are shut by government instruction. Sit-in food premises such as cafes and restaurants are denied opening.

Hairdressers, barbers and beauty salons are closed. All non-essential shops should be shut.  

Many local businesses are providing a takeaway service or, if you are stuck at home, will deliver groceries to you.
