The swimming pool at Ionad Spòrs Leòdhais in Stornoway remains out of action the end of the month a result of damaged floor tiles.

Contractors began interior work early this week and the tile replacement work is now nearing completion.

However, the adhesive and grout used on the new tiles will require seven days to set before it can be exposed to water and chlorine.

Once the setting period has passed, the pool is to be refilled with water and reheated, a job which will require several days to complete.

Then water tests are required before the pool will re-open to the public safely.

Due to the time required for all of these processes to be completed, the pool will remain closed next week.

Provided all goes according to schedule, the pool is expected to re-open at the beginning of the week of 28th October four days after the end of the mid-term holiday break.
