Santas make a dash for it

17 December 2024

Around 30 festive themed runners took part in this years chairty Santa Dash in Stornoway.

A new 3km route devised to encourage more families to take part took a circular track from the Lewis Sports Centre up Matheson Road, Goathill Road and finishing on the running track for hot chocolate .

Father Christmas himself made an appearance to get the run underway.

Entry was free while ClubSport Lewis and Harris - which hosted the fun run - donated Santa suits and hats to the event with all the proceeds from their sale donated to the Isle of Lewis Committee of Cancer Research UK.

Amy Macaulay of the local Cancer Research UK committee said: “The idea is to raise funds for cancer research and to have some fun close to Christmas.”

Its a nice, enjoyable family event with people of different ages entering, she added.

Online donations are gratefully accepted at www.fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org

Sport & Health and ClubSport Lewis & Harris thanked the following for helping make the dash a success – Alec and Lottie, Eddy Rogers, Lewis Macleod, Donald Oz Macleod, Cllr George Murray, Ashley, Catherine, Amy, Liz the MC, and of course Father Christmas as well as all the participants.
