A former well-known Stornoway pub which shut some 14 months ago is up for sale.
The Clachan Bar finally closed in November 2012 after period of reduced trade and
financial issues.
The premises, in a prime spot on one of the main streets in the town centre, has
now been put on the market.
The vendors are seeking offers over £180,000 for the building which has an area of
370m2 over two storeys.
Property agents Ken Macdonald suggest the “premises offer the potential for retaining
the prior use as a bar and music venue or for redevelopment to café/restaurant premises,
retail or office units or bunkhouse style accommodation.”
Its scenic views over the inner harbour, the Lews Castle and castle grounds may give
the premises an edge in a market presently suffering from a glut of vacant commercial
properties.
