A murderer has received an additional 21 months prison sentence after he fashioned a razor toothbrush weapon.
Johnathan Mackinnon of Stornoway was behind bars after being convicted of killing Liam Aitchison, 16, in 2011 in Lewis.
Mackinnon along with Stefan Millar from Carloway were both aged 22 years when sentenced to a minimum of 18 years in prison.
They denied carrying out the brutal attack on the Lochboisdale but a jury returned a guilty verdict following a trial in 2013 at Glasgow High Court.
Mackinnon - now aged 31 - has been serving his sentence at HMP Grampian in Peterhead.
Prison officers discovered a toothbrush with a razorblade melted into it during a cell search.
He admitted having the bladed item in prison when his case called at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
Sheriff Ian Wallace sentenced Mackinnon to 21 months in jail for the offence to run consecutively to his current prison sentence.
Liam Aitchison was murdered in a frenzied attack in November 2011.
The teenager from Lochboisdale was spending time on Lewis since leaving Sgoil Lionacleit.
The discovery of his body in a derelict house in Steinish two miles outside Stornoway sparked a large scale investigation involving 126 police officers, over 500 witnesses and more than 1,000 pieces of evidence.
He had been stabbed him 20 times with his nose and jaw fractured by the force of blows.
