Plans to extend the Stornoway mosque have been lodged with the comhairle.
The proposals include a kitchen and an additional toilet.
The proposed extension at the front of the building would also allow for a small room for washing of the dead, an important ritual in Islamic religion.
The mosque opened last summer when renovation work on a derelict house in James Street was completed at speed after a fundraising appeal took off.
A prayer room and a meeting space occupies the ground floor within the small building.
