Stornoway freight ferry sailings cancelled in rough seas and gale force winds forecast

Strong winds and a high swell forecast for the northern Minch risk affecting the Stornoway ferry service.

CalMac says MV Loch Seaforth’s freight sailing tonight’s is cancelled.

The shipping firm also warns this afternoon (Tuesday) Stornoway departure and the evening run from Ullapool are liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice.

According to the forecast at time of publication, sea conditions are worsening with Wednesday’s passenger sailings also placed on yellow alert,

On both days, livestock will be assessed on a sailing-by-sailing basis.

CalMac have not issued any disruption alert for Thursday but if the weather and sea state comes in as forecast then it would be prudent for intending travellers to check for updates.
