The Stornoway ferry will remain tied up in port until adverse sea state conditions abate.

High waves are impacting MV Loch Seaforth’s route from today (Sunday) with sailings on alter into Tuesday.

The weather system dropping from the Arctic bringing snow to northern Scotland is also taking strong winds and heavy seas to the west and north coasts.

The ferry brought her sailings forward by several hours this morning and ran ahead of the inbound weather to prevent passengers being stranded on Sunday.

She returned to Stornoway as seas were building up in the northern Minch.

No freight sailings will take place with a review later tomorrow.

The first set of sailings on the Stornoway - Ullapool service are cancelled on Monday. CalMac confirmed the morning departures will not operate.

Monday afternoon sailings are in doubt.

The Monday night and Tuesday morning freight run is has a high possibility of cancellation due to a heavy swell.  

Meanwhile, Sound of Harris sailings timings are disrupted up to Wednesday due to low tides.
