Hebridean Jewellery’s shop in Stornoway has won this year’s Christmas prize as the most creative window display.

Manageress Fay Ross (pictured above) was delighted to receive the award from Western Isles Lottery which held a competition for the best festive displays in the town.

Blythswood Charity Shop earned the cup for the best in its sector. Lesley Macdonald, the store manager spends countless hours hand-making each piece creating the spectacular and unique displays in the shop’s three large windows for the last three years.




















Shield for the most original display went to Charles Macleod, butchers while the Royal Hotel was the runaway winner of the cup in their section.

First prize in the residential home competition was won by Karen and Patrick MacLeod of  Tong, Lewis, who chose Hebrides Alpha’s facility in Back to receive their £200 award.

David Simpson of Garyvard, Pairc, donated his £100 prize for second place to Hebridean Men’s Cancer Group.

North Lochs Community Association benefits by £50 thanks to the decorating efforts of Leurbost resident,  Lucy Duke.

Emma Fraser, secretary of the Western Isles Lottery said, “As might have been expected given the current economic climate, fewer entries than usual were received for the annual residential home and garden competition.

“That said, many locals endeavoured to decorate their homes brightly, all adding to the festive feel-good factor around the Island.”
