Heavy seas rules out a mainland ferry service for South Uist and Barra until tomorrow.

Castlebay, Lochmaddy and Tarbert mainland sailings were suspended yesterday with disruption on some routes continuing today.

Conditions touching force 10 off Barra prevented MV Isle of Lewis from venturing out to sea today. The vessel will operate a return sailing tomorrow (Thursday) departing Castlebay at 5.15am.

MV Lord of the Isles will run to Mallaig and back tomorrow following a series of days without a service due to bad weather.

MV Loch Seaforth is handling a backlog of traffic following earlier cancellations. The vessel resumed service mid-morning on the Ullapool - Stornoway route.

The Skye triangle route is now operating to normal timetable.
