CalMac has been unable to find a ship to cover Lochboisdale runs for a number of days.

Relief vessel, MV Isle of Mull, carried out the last sailing on the route on Wednesday before heading to her scheduled drydock in Aberdeen.

CalMac said: “We have had to stretch vessels to their maximum limits by delivering shared services across some routes on a small number of occasions as a consequence, there will be no service on Lochboisdale for a period.”

The initially three-day gap in service has been extended by an extra day.

MV Hebridean Isles is also in Aberdeen for her annual overhaul but a delay means she will not be able to take up station as relief ferry until Monday, operating to and from Oban.

MV Lord of the Isles is due to finish drydock work on Thursday with a view of picking up her South Uist timetable next weekend.
