Sir,

If his wee letter of 5 September, under True Scots want an independent Scotland is anything to go by then it is Mr Seumas N. MacLeod that has ‘no grasp on life’ not me. I can assure him, without reservation, that I am certainly not brainwashed by people such as Gordon Brown. I am however brainwashed by reality.

This grand (it was at one time) country ‘our Scotland’ is morally falling apart at the very seams thanks to the SNP Government who are fanatically obsessed, on a daily basis, with nothing less than one thing: independence. Other than a broken union they are concerned about little else - and shame on them.

I honestly cringe at the very thought of what an independent Scotland would look like, when we can’t even properly govern with the powers we have. Those of us who really love our grand little country are deeply thankful for the oversight of our friends south of Hadrian’s Wall.

Not that long ago, irrational politicians at Hollywood stubbornly refused to listen to the majority of Scottish parents regarding the incredulous Named Person scheme. They eventually had to abandon their draconian snoopers charter when they were instructed to by the UK’s highest court.

Supreme Court judges ruled against the scheme claiming that certain aspects of it, "are not within the legislative competence of the Scottish Parliament.”

No, they didn’t have the commonsense, or the competence, to see it themselves. Oh, and let’s not forget another claim which the judges made. They said that Scotland has been saved from a totalitarian (tyrannical) curse. Yes, thanks to sanity on the part of others in the UK.

And if Mr MacLeod doesn’t know about the ‘wisdom’ of politicians craving for independence, can I enlighten him about the ideology they are proposing to teach every young child in schools across Scotland in 2019.

Listen to what our sick ‘freedom rulers’ are saying to children, “Your gender is what you decide. You might be a boy or a girl, or maybe you don’t like to decide that. Your sex is what you are told by a doctor when you are born. Most people are told they are a male child (a boy) or a female child (a girl). People might think they know your gender because of the clothes you wear or the things you like to do. You are a unique person, you know who you are.”

In other words, decide for yourself want you really want to be at heart, a boy or a girl – your gender is your decision.

One can hardly believe that these words were devised by those leading our nation. I have said it before, and I will say it again: our politicians in the Scottish Parliament, in the Scottish Government – call it what you like – are not fit to run a cold tap, never mind run an independent country. Our nation has a long way to go, morally and otherwise, before it is worthy of independence.
