More disruption is likely from the wintry weather into Thursday highlights the Met Office which has issued.

A fresh weather warning of snow and ice has been issued for Lewis from this afternoon until 10am on Thursday.

Snow and ice will bring some difficult driving conditions and localised transport disruption say forecasters

Snow showers will affect northern Scotland overnight Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.

Accumulations of up to 2cm are expected quite widely across the warning area, with up to 5cm possible on higher ground particularly of the northwest Highlands. Icy surfaces may be a hazard where sleet or snow showers fall on to frozen surfaces.
