Aimee Nicleòid of Lochs, Lewis, was awarded the Provost of Falkirk Medal for winning the Solo Traditional Singing competition for learner speakers at the Royal National Mòd in Oban.

The event is aimed at teenagers aged between 16 and 18 years.  

The talented teenager is a regular on the Mòd circuit having started singing when she was seven. She won the prestigious silver pendant at Mòd Ionadail Leòdhais in the summer and was also awarded the awarded the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar trophy for the best performance at the local Mòd prizewinners’ concert.

Kathryn Dugdale of Comunn  Gàidhealach Mhuile was placed second in the girl’s event while Mary Morrison of Sgoil MhicNeacail took third prize.

Meanwhile, Seumas Macrae of Sgoil MhicNeacail was awarded the Highland Society of London Trophy after winning first prize in the boys 16-18 years solo singing competition.

In other competitions, Ava Grace Carty of Sgoil an Rubha won a gold badge for being placed first in the P2 and P3 solo singing learner event.  

And the Under 13 solo traditional singing event for learners saw second prize being awarded to Angus Duncan MacFhionghain of Sgoil an Iochdair.
