A second strike is set to affect Western Isles airports on Thursday.

No commercial flights will operate to or from Barra and Benbecula during the industrial action.

Stornoway Airport will shut in the morning but reopens in the afternoon.

Medical emergencies will be serviced from island airports if required.

Fire-fighters, security and administration personnel walked out on Monday and plan similar action on Thursday.

There seems little prospect of averting the strike as no talks are planned between Unite the union and Highlands and Islands Airports until after New Year.

Union members rejected an 5% offer which they deemed unacceptable with inflation soaring to hit a 40-year high.
