Police in the Western Isles are urging drivers to make sure their vehicle is fit for the road following a series of safety operations based around summer festivals.
Officers working at HebCelt in Stornoway and the Eilean Dorcha Festival on Benbecula in the last month stopped around 240 vehicles.
They detected a number of offences related to Mot, insurance and construction and use.
Two motorists face court appearances over alleged drink driving while a number of others were caught speeding.
Officers at HebCelt in Stornoway checked 120 vehicles over the course of the festival.
This resulted in 17 drivers either being reported or issued with a fixed penalty notice for speeding, three for insurance offences and four for driving without an MOT.
A number of safe use offences were also detected, including one vehicle being issued with a prohibition notice.
A similar number of vehicles were stopped while the Eilean Dorcha Festival was on in Benbecula, resulting in warnings being issued for various speeding and construction offences.
Five motorists were also detected without MoT, three without insurance, four not wearing seatbelts, one without a driving licence and one for drink driving offences.
Chief Inspector Ian Graham said: "We will continue to carry out activity aimed at improving road safety in the Western Isles with the support of partners from the local authority and other agencies.
"Road safety is an issue regularly highlighted by our communities and is a priority for us locally.
"Before taking it out on the road make sure your vehicle is safe for use, has valid insurance and an Mot.
"The dangers of excess speed are well documented and our message is simple -
"I would encourage anyone with concerns about issues on the roads to raise the matter either through contacting either Police Scotland or Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar or alternatively by raising the matter with their local community council and/or local councillors."
