Careers advisers from the Western Isles were part of a group working on the annual exam results helpline, offering expert advice on everything from resits to university and college applications to apprenticeships.
Advisers from the Skills Development Scotland (SDS) office in Stornoway took calls from young people who had performed better than expected, who hadn’t got the results they had wanted, and who needed guidance on what to do next – as well as their parents.
Some 50 professionally qualified advisers from SDS’s north Scotland region advisers answered more than 1,000 calls on the first day.
