Project Support Officer

 

Benbecula

 

Job Title: Cuimhne (Memory) Project Support Officer

 

 Temporary contract until July 2020 - possibility of extension

 

Location:   Tagsa Uibhist Office, East Camp, Balivanich,

Isle of Benbecula, HS7 5LA

 

Hours:   Contracted 12 hrs per week - possibility of additional

  hours when available

 

Salary:   £9.75/hr

 

This is an opportunity for an energetic, self-motivated person to join the team within a forward thinking charitable organisation at a time of positive change and opportunity.

 

The role is to provide support to people with memory problems in their own homes and in the community, their families and carers. You will be required to work with others in setting up and delivering opportunities and activities for people living with dementia and their carers. You will support the delivery of dementia awareness and the breaking down of stigma across the Uist and Benbecula. You will provide the highest possible level of care and stimulating activities to people affected by dementia.

 

You will develop positive relationships with the service user’s carers, family and friends through providing flexible support as appropriate to the setting.

 

The successful candidate will be able to ensure up to date records are maintained and assist in collating any relevant service records to meet required deadlines. You will attend meetings and training sessions at local and / or national level.

 

Flexibility of working hours is paramount.  You will be computer literate, able to keep a diary of relevant observations and notes, have excellent organisational and communication skills.  You will ideally be able to understand Gaelic and have access to a car.

 

This work is supported with funding from the Robertson Trust and the Life Changes Trust. The latter is funded by the Big Lottery.
