Photos: Princess Royal Anne at Flannan Isles shore station

3 October 2019

Despite world wide fame, no memorial existed to the Flannan Isles’ lightkeepers until the community erected one.

Jim Crawford created the memorial depicting a bronze wave sweeping over a sandstone lighthouse sitting on a Lewisian gneiss boulder.

The community presented her with a painting of Flannan lighthouse by Margaret Stevenson

The house was occupied by the families of the Flannan lighthouse keepers

A craving above the doors shows it was built in 1899.

The princess enjoyed the children’s performance
