Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is inviting public feedback on the draft Outer Hebrides
Economic Strategy plan.
The draft strategy vision aims for an Outer Hebrides which is thriving, prosperous
and sustainable.
The document defines measures of success and identifies priority areas for activity
across three themes: Key Sectors, People and Place, and Infrastructure.
Comments received from the public will be reviewed and considered when developing
the final version of the strategy which will be presented to the Comhairle for approval
in May.
Norman Macdonald, vice chair of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Sustainable Development
Committee, said: “The Outer Hebrides Economic Strategy is a hugely important document.
“For the Comhairle to take advantage of opportunities for development, maximise the
Outer Hebrides’ growth potential and encourage people to live and work in our islands
we must set out clear plans and priority areas for the next decade.
“This consultation gives the public an opportunity to take part in this process,
I would encourage you all to read the proposals and engage with the consultation
process.”
Islanders can comment via the council’s website.
