A new police dog for the Western Isles has hit the ground running during her first
week.
Alongside her handler, PC Calum Macdonald, she has undertaken proactive work at the
post office, as well as property, vehicle and person searches.
This assisted in the recovery of quantities of cocaine, cannabis, vapes containing
the cannabis compound, tetrahydrocannabinol, and over 500 non-prescribed tablets.
Viv, a 20-month-old cocker spaniel recently completed her training and is based in
Stornoway where she lives with PC Macdonald but will work throughout the Western
Isles.
She is trained to search for illegal drugs and react if she finds them.
