Isabell MacInnes has been announced as the new chairperson of Ceòlas Uibhist.

She has a huge passion for Gaelic language, music, song and heritage.
She takes over from Màiri MacInnes who has led the Ceòlas board for many years. Màiri will continue to be a director on the board to help lead the next phase of Cnoc Soilleir.
Isabell said: “It is a great honour for me to take on the role of chair.
“Ceòlas is in a great place with a strong board of directors and local committee. I want to welcome the new members who were appointed onto the board and committee and thank all those who make such a valuable contribution to the organisation. I look forward to working with all stakeholders to continue to ensure Ceòlas’ growth.”
Outgoing chairperson, Màiri MacInnes, said:“It has been my privilege over many years as Chair to have worked steadily with board, committee and staff members of Ceòlas and progressed the organisation to become one with national and international standing for Gaelic language and culture.”
She added: “The tremendous achievement of Cnoc Soilleir is something for the community of South Uist to be proud of and enjoy.
“Isabell MacInnes is rooted in Gaelic language and tradition and is an excellent choice of chair for taking Ceòlas on the next stage of its journey. I wish her every success.”
Pauline MacDonald rejoins the board after covering the role of interim manager before the appointment of the ceannard, John Joe Macneil. Pàdruig Morrison, a member of traditional Uist band, Beinn Lee, also joins the board.
Other Ceòlas board members include Iseabail MacDonald, Seonaidh MacIntyre, Julia MacIsaac, Sarah MacKay, William MacPhee and Alex O’ Henley.
