MV Loch Seaforth set to resume Stornoway ferry sailings following delays

15 November 2024

Loch Seaforth will not pick up her Stornoway - Ullapool service until Sunday following a further delay said CalMac.

MV Isle of Lewis is due to remain on the run undertaking a relief timetable on Saturday morning, weather permitting. Afternoon sailings are cancelled.

Due to poor visibility caused by fog conditions, MV Loch Seaforth’s planned departure from Liverpool on Thursday evening was delayed until this (Friday) morning.

The ship is now making the approximate 24-hour voyage to Stornoway.

However, additional inspections are required on the vessel’s main propulsion systems by their manufacturer.

The time required to undertake these inspections suitably and safely will mean the vessel is not in a position to return to service until Sunday 17 November said the shipping company.

As a result, MV Isle of Lewis will operate a return trip to Ullapool on Saturday morning.  The Citylink bus will operate the current amended timetable to accommodate this.

This sailing will be liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice due to adverse weather.

The published Sunday ferry sailings are cancelled.

Normal service is expected to resume on Sunday afternoon releasing MV Isle of Lewis to return to her usual Castlebay - Oban route.
