MV Loch Seaforth awaits sailing approval following overhaul

14 November 2023

Stornoway ferry, MV Loch Seaforth has been delayed in resuming her Minch crossing following a hold-up in Liverpool.

Castlebay vessel, MV Isle of Lewis, will remain as relief on the Ullapool run until she returns - currently anticipated to be by Thursday morning.

Chartered ship, MV Arrow, will operate the overnight freight service.

The Seaforth moved out of the Cammell Laird dry dock on the Mersey and last week, shifting down river to a berth in Canada Dock on the Liverpool side for further essential inspections and work. Following engine and steering trials on Tuesday night she tied up at the adjacent Langton Dock. She is due to steam northward on Wednesday.

On her return, the Lewis will head back to her own Barra - Oban route, releasing MV Isle of Mull to the diminished Craignure service.
