A large scale search is taking place in Stornoway tonight as concerns grow for the safety of a missing woman.

Kelly Johnson, from Stornoway was last seen in the Macaulay Road area this afternoon, Friday, 25 February.

The 38-year-old is described as being 5ft 6, slim build, with dark hair.

Stornoway lifeboat has been searching around the inner and outer harbours.

The coastguard helicopter scoured the area of Lews Castle Grounds and Stornoway golf course as well the War Memorial path and a stretch of the Pentland Road.

When last seen, she was wearing a green thigh-length parka jacket, blue jeans and white trainers.

Sergeant Donald John Macleod, from Stornoway Police Station, said: “As time passes since Kelly was last seen or was in touch with her family, our concern continues to grow.

“We are appealing for anyone with any information on her whereabouts to please call 101, quoting incident 1894 of 25 February.”
