About half of the Southern Isles have been affected by a widespread power cut today.
Around 3,720 properties in Benbecula, North Uist and Bernerary were without electricity.
The lights went out around 1.30pm.
Hydro engineers later rerouted supplies to bring properties back online while they attempted to trace the specific source of the fault which impacted the overhead line network.
A Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) spokesperson said: “We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
“We can assure customers that engineers are working to restore supplies as quickly and safely as possible.”
