Loganair has teamed up with Poppyscotland and The Royal British Legion to commission a unique aircraft livery to mark the end of the four-year WW1 centenary and the approaching 100th anniversary of the end of The Great War.

The move comes to raise the profile of the important services and support that both Poppyscotland and The Royal British Legion provide to service men and women, veterans and their families in times of need.

The Saab 2000 aircraft has a logo from each organisation printed onto each side of its 3m tail-fin, which will shortly be seen in the skies overhead.

Kay Ryan, commercial director at Loganair said: “The 100th anniversary of the end of WW1 is almost upon us, and in recognition of the sacrifices made by both servicemen, women, veterans and their families, we felt it was important to do our part to ensure we all remember

“Furthermore, we also recognise the ongoing sacrifices that today’s armed forces continue to make.

“Subsequently, the time was right to highlight the importance of the great services provided by The Royal British Legion & Poppyscotland. We trust the new aircraft livery will attract the attention of both our customers and other air passengers across the country and raise awareness.

“We’d also like to take the opportunity to thank our armed forces, by introducing a new discount on our flights for military personnel – the details of which will become available in the near future.”

The Royal British Legion and Poppyscotland together form the largest charity group supporting the Armed Forces community across the UK. Best known for running the annual Poppy Appeal, they work year-round to help members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, veterans and their families. They also campaign to improve their lives and remember the fallen.

Mark Bibbey, chief executive of Poppyscotland said: “These aircraft look fantastic and we are extremely grateful for the generous support of Loganair. It is particularly fitting that in this centenary year that Loganair are going the extra mile by branding this aircraft for so many travellers to see.

“It provides an opportunity to remind people across the UK of the selfless sacrifices made by so many during the First World War and, importantly, highlight the life-changing support provided by the Royal British Legion and Poppyscotland to the armed forces community today.”
