Lewis piper, James Duncan Mackenzie, has won the prestigious Dunvegan Medal for piobaireachd at the annual Skye Gathering.
The Shawbost resident was up against another 25 participants in the competition during the two-day event in Portree.
He qualified to play in the clasp competition for previous winners of the Dunvegan Medal and also qualifies to enter next year’s Silver Chanter contest.
Contestants have to submit four tunes from a list of piobaireachds attributed to or closely associated with the MacCrimmon dynasty of pipers from Skye.
James is pictured with his prize - a solid gold medal dating to 1927.
