Championship player Keith Deller is visiting Stornoway Sea Angling Club this Friday.

The 59-year-old will compete against local darts enthusiasts during the night.

His meteoric rise to fame in the 80s saw him clinching the world championship with a spectacular finish against the favourite, and more experienced player, Eric Bristow.

That 1983 tournament also earned him the title of being the youngest ever world darts champion.

Deller also trounced John Lowe, and defending champion Jocky Wilson, on the way to the finals, achieving the unique accolade of defeating the top three globally ranked players in a world championship.

Nowadays, he coaches darts professionals and undertakes stints as a sports pundit at televised matches.

A Sea Angling Club spokesman said they were looking forward to hosting Friday’s event.

He said: “This will be a great night with a former world champion.

“Many locals are keen to play him.

“Players in the club membership and in the local darts’ league have had the chance to be selected against Keith Deller.

“And the event is open to all to come and be part of the audience.”

Tickets are on sale at the clubhouse.
