Elite swimmer Kara Hanlon claimed top spot in races at a major early season national competition in Sheffield.

She was up against top UK swimmers at the British Universities and Colleges Sport Long Course Swimming Championships.

The Stornoway youth represented Edinburgh University at the annual event where 72 universities took part.

She bagged a clutch of golds - taking first in both the women's 50 metres and 100 metres breaststroke.

Ensuring the relay gold was also coming back to Scotland, she delivered a impressive performance with her teammates in the womens’ 4x100m medley event.

She was awarded silver in the 200 metre breaststroke race, narrowly missing out on first place.

The races also provided her the opportunity to test herself in a highly competitive event at the start of a busy year.
