A Stornoway man has been jailed for assaulting a woman.

Calum Nann injured his victim after hitting her on the body with a belt.

The incident occurred on 4 January.

The 44-year-old pleaded guilty to the charge at Stornoway Sheriff Court.

He also admitted a charge of shouting and swearing at children.

Sheriff David Sutherland imposed a six month prison sentence.
