Islanders gather for Remembrance Sunday
10 November 2024
People at a service by the Lewis War Memorial today fell silent to remember those
who died in conflict.
People of all ages attended on Remembrance Sunday, including school pupils, youth
organisations, emergency services, Merchant Navy, as well as veterans and serving
members of the Armed Forces.
Wreaths were laid on behalf of King Charles by Lord Lieutenant Iain Macaulay, and
on behalf of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar by council convenor, Kenny Macleod.
Wreaths were also laid by many representatives of local organisations. Islanders
gathered at local memorial events in districts across the Western Isles.
