Injured seaman airlifted to hospital

An injured seafarer has been airlifted to hospital in Lewis.

The crewman damaged his hand onboard a vessel at sea.

The alarm was raised around 3pm and Stornoway coastguard helicopter flew to the ship’s position some 20 miles west of the islands.

The male was winched onboard the aircraft and later received treatment at the Stornoway hospital.
