Four more people in Lewis have contracted coronavirus bringing the new Lewis outbreak total up to 16 cases.

NHS Western Isles said tonight (Saturday) the outbreak is “affecting” services across Lewis and Harris.

Around 80 people known to be in close proximity to those infected have been asked to isolated, nearly double the figure compared to yesterday (Friday) morning.

The total of the existing Lewis outbreak remains static at 95 cases.

As a result of confirmed virus cases, the bus service on Lewis and Harris will be disrupted until Friday at least.

Vaccination clinics took place today and clinics are scheduled on Sunday in Balivanich and Castlebay.

More than 900 people received jabs over the last two days.
