A new operator is being sought for Glasgow’s iconic Park Bar as its current landlady hands over the reins.

The establishment - decorated with flags of different nations while pictures of CalMac ships adorn the walls - has offered a warm Hebridean welcome for exiled and visiting islanders over the decades.

Long before Finnieston became trendy, the lively bar was a favourite destination for Gaels across the city.

Outgoing landlady Nina Steele - who hails from South Uist - said it has been a “privilege” to run the venue for the past three decades.

She added: “The Park plays a special role not only in the local community but also within Gaeldom and with followers of traditional ceilidh music.

“Thank you to all our fantastic customers, we have made many friends from all over the world.”

With Nina now planning to hand over the baton, the pub lease has come on the market.

Graham + Sibbald’s licensed trade agent, Martin Sutherland, said: “This pub is an institution in the West End that already has an established reputation and client base.

“The pub has kept its charm making it appealing to a wide range of clientele.”

“The current tenants have run the pub for nearly 30 years and are moving onto pastures new, leaving behind an excellent business perfect for the right tenant to build upon.

“From a business perspective, the Park Bar offers a great opportunity to run a successful already established business.

“The bar already has a stellar reputation and a loyal customer base, attracting visitors from near and far throughout the year. The charm and warm atmosphere mean the property is attractive to a wide range of customers.”

The agents are offering the lease at £75,000 per year with an ingoing premium of £225,000.
