Met Office warns wintry conditions could affect roads

24 February 2020

A yellow warning of ice has been issued for the Western Isles until Tuesday.

The Met Office said a blast of wintry conditions would affect much of Scotland.

Icy patches could lead to possible hazardous travel

Some roads will be affected, leading to longer journey times.

There is an increased chance of injuries and accidents on icy pavements and paths.

Many areas will be affected by occasional showers of rain, hail, sleet and snow, with clear spells in between leading to frost and icy surfaces.

Further snow accumulations of 2-6 cm are expected over parts of Scotland, mainly in the west at higher ground.

Main routes in Lewis and Harris were gritted this morning.
