The Highland Council has confirmed that the closure of Uig Harbour in Skye will proceed on Monday 30 October.
The closure means the withdrawal of CalMac’s Skye triangle ferry service for Uist and Tarbert for six weeks.
The port is entering a second phase of infrastructure upgrades.
The planned outage is required for works to replace life expired pier and infrastructure.
During the closure, the existing linkspan and support structures will be will be replaced by a new linkspan on foundations which were constructed earlier this year.
The linkspan will be installed and commissioned for ferry services resuming on Monday 11 December pledged Highland Council.
Chair of the council’s economy and infrastructure committee, Ken Gowans said: “The second phase of works at Uig are essential to ensure the ferry services on the Skye Triangle route can continue to serve communities and visitors for many years to come.
“This is the second temporary closure and work has been planned and programmed in a way to get as many key work activities completed over the six weeks.
“I recommend travellers look at the service continuity plans that CalMac are putting in place and follow the links to the timetable information.”
He added: “The Skye Triangle Resilience Group, which includes the Minister for Transport and all project partners will continue to meet during the outage period.
“Weekly updates will be posted on The Highland Council Website to provide regular updates on the works and will address any issues that arise.”
CalMac’s continuity plan includes axing the Tarbert ferry service until the Skye pier reopens. Tarbert traffic will be redirected to Ullapool-
