Hebrides News

An amended timetable will operate for Tarbert and Lochmaddy in an effort to provide a service during wild weather on Monday.

A severe gale is forecast in the early morning and MV Hebrides will hold back the first departure of the day - from Harris - until it is safe to sail.

Present forecasts suggest a 60 minute delay to leave at 8.20am to allow the very strongest gusts to pass.

All other sailings will be running at least an hour behind schedule.

The weather may impede her first sailing which would create a knock-on delay on all runs over the day.

Sea conditions in the open Minch are likely to make for an uncomfortable journey, particularly on morning sailings.

Drivers are advised to take caution while travelling over the Skye bridge due to strong winds while there may be spells of closure for high sided vehicles.
