A Lewis man who is baking up a storm on the internet is set to publish his favourite recipes in a book.
The Hebridean Baker, also known as Coinneach Macleod, has a global following with nearly 10 million views of his recipe and lifestyle videos.
Coinneach Macleod from Cromore was inspired by traditional family recipes and homegrown produce.
Now he’s based in Glasgow as a football development officer with UEFA, the union of European football associations. In 2017, the Gaelic singer won the Silver Pendant at the Royal National Mod in Fort William.
Rising to fame as the Hebridean Baker on TikTok during lockdown last year, he motivates his 130,000 worldwide followers to bake, forage, learn Gaelic, enjoy a dram or two of whisky and to seek a more wholesome, simple life.
He has amassed tens of thousands of fans, many coming on board after Elle Magazine featured him after one of their Cosy TikTok Picks after a Donald Trump social media shutdown threat.
Along with his partner Peter and their Westie pup Seòras, Coinneach’s aim is to bring the best of the Scottish islands to a worldwide audience.
With wholesome, traditional Scottish recipes, stunning photography and a generous sprinkling of stories of island life and culture, the book will offer a true taste of the Western Isles.
Focusing on small bakes that use a simple set of ingredients, these recipes will unleash your inner Scottish baker, it’s all about rustic, home baking and old family favourites because ‘homemade is always best,” he says.
